Sekhukhune Snatch Up Daniel Cardoso
Fresh after being sacked by Kaizer Chiefs, defender Daniel Cardoso has already found a new club: Sekhukhune United FC.
According to SABC Sport, the 33-year-old Johannesburger has joined the Kempton Park-based outfit on a three-year deal.
“The announcement is expected in the coming days as coach Kaitano Tembo looks to rebuild the team after he took over from MacDonald Makhubedu, who has since been given a new designation as ‘senior coach’,” the outlet explained on Tuesday, 5 July.
Cardoso’s signing comes a month after Amakhosi – with whom he played for seven years – chose not to renew his contract. He is expected to be formally unveiled by Babina Noko sometime this week.
Five other players have also joined the club, per reports from Tuesday: Thamsanqa Masiya, Lesego Sebetlela, Trésor Tshibwabwa Yamba Yamba, Wonderboy Makhubu, and Badra Ali Sangaré.
Along with six signings made last month – Linda Mntambo, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Denwin Farmer, Elias Mokwana, Abednego Mosiatlhaga and Tshepo Mokhabi – Sekhukhune have a total of 12 new players to train and ready for the 2022/2023 season.
